Czech drinking habits revealed

1 in 10 Czechs drink like fish, 1 in 10 are teetotallers and the rest have the occasional tipple adding up to 10 liters of pure booze per head per year. All that and more was revealed by a recent survey.


Poll: 14% of Czechs cannot do without alcohol | Prague Daily Monitor Prague, Jan 23 (CTK) - Some 14 percent of Czechs, men more often than women, cannot imagine their life without a glass of alcohol, according to a poll conducted by the Median agency and released to CTK Friday.

The "Alcohol and Czechs" poll shows that alcohol is a common part of life for 62 percent of respondents, while young people aged 20-29 prevail in the group with "a positive approach to alcohol."

The Median study also shows that 65 percent of the polled can imagine living without alcohol and 18 percent are undecided in this respect.

Only 11 percent of respondents do not consider alcohol a common part of lifestyle.

A total of 10.2 litres of pure alcohol per capita is annually consumed in the Czech Republic.
